Elements of light and fanfare contrast against elements of horror. There is nothing quite like a well-executed horror setting or area. In this workshop, I’ll take you through the steps I took to create horror elements for my setting. I’ll also talk about the areas and creatures I’ve designed for Lugon and their general concepts. As per usual, a form will be supplied so you can write down your own freshly crafted ideas or work on an existing idea. From good-natured eldritch monstrosities fighting against their nature to life and creation having gone waywire, there are many ways to have your readers and/or players quaking in your boots while being hungry for more. The Greek Gods roam the Earth, slowly fading as the mortals have stopped worshipping them. Suddenly, the Gods find themselves in a strange space, and are told they will lose their Godhood. As they are forced to wait together to face their mortality, old jealousies and regrets come into play. How do they cope with the loss of their powers? Can they accept their fate before it is too late? In this shortlarp, you will each be playing a Greek God who has lost their powers. The game uses an element of randomisation to create unexpected dynamics. Because of this, the game does not strive to be perfectly accurate to the mythology and knowledge of the myths is not required to play. The tone is comedic and themes include: family drama, (im)mortality, loss of powers, friendship and betrayal. This is the larp for you if you enjoy playing out interpersonal conflict and want to use Greek mythology as a base to create explosive relationships. The players are given a role and a setting is shared (in this case a haunted house). The players get to know each other, and in between they get updates for their character. Until suddenly someone is murdered (and it often doesn’t stop at one murder). Then it is up to the players to find out who of the players is responsible for this (using clues and good detective work). Story: It All Seems So Perfect and Simple… Real estate developers Priscilla Blackstone and Sabrina Nox have joined forces to open a magnificent haunted house on the island of Texel. Each has their own motives, but since they haven’t shared these with one another, it hardly matters — there will be plenty of time for sabotage later. First things first: time to fill the haunted house with creepy creatures. Besides a few personally invited heroes, actors crawl out from every dark corner. Some of them may have a lot more in common with monsters than expected… and a few seem to already be dead!Do you dare to enter the haunted house?
