📌Location: Workshoproom 1
🎤Hosted by: Cynthia
Meet Cynthia, artist at Inkarnate, neurodiverse dm, also known as The Dungeon Madame with 13 years of TTRPG experience. She’s been an artist at Inkarnate since December 2019, also runs an in-person Curse of Strahd campaign whilst sharing all the maps she makes on Inkarnate together with her friend on their Patreon. She enjoys offering a sanctuary for neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ players and can’t wait to explain how to draw battlemaps quickly and efficiently on the fly.
You don’t need to be an artist to make clear, fun and engaging battlemaps that your players will enjoy! And you don’t have to prepare hours in advance on Inkarnate to have your battlemaps ready. Drawing them on graph paper will do just fine as well! And whilst we’re drawing, why not come up with encounters, environmental hazards, or engaging mechanics on the fly?
This is going to be a two part workshop. On Saturday, we’ll go over the basics of battlemap drawing by hand. I’ll share tips on layout, composition, obstacles, and details. By the end, you’ll be able to hand-draw battlemaps and have a desire to create more!
On Sunday I’ll go over how to create fun, engaging and totally improvised encounters on the fly. We are going to utilize our knowledge of the first workshop, and I’ll teach you how the creation of a battlemap can sometimes guide the choices for an improvised encounter. Both workshops are hands-on experiences. I’ll be giving short demonstrations which will be followed up by group-exercises! All materials needed will be provided.
