‘Vaesen: Nordic Horror RPG’ van de Zweedse uitgever Free League, is een detective-spel met duistere folklore in de victoriaanse tijd (ca. 1880), waarbij je probeert paranormale mysteries op te lossen.

De wezens (oftewel ‘vaesen’ in het Zweeds) uit sprookjes, sagen en legendes blijken écht te zijn. Ze terroriseren de mens die met hun ‘beschaving’ de natuur kapot maakt. Jullie zijn detectives, van de Sociëteit, een internationale organisatie die onderzoek doet naar ‘vaesens’, en jullie zijn geboren met een zesde zintuig waardoor jullie ze kunnen zien. 

In ‘Verdwijning op de Haterse Vennen’ worden de detectives van de Sociëteit naar Oost-Nederland geroepen om een serie mysterieuze verdwijningen op te lossen in het moerasgebied tussen Maas en Waal. Verhalen gaan de rondte over spookachtige vioolmuziek in de nacht en doodse blikken in het water. Kunnen jullie de vermisten terughalen?
